5 tips before you leave
Bringing a well maintained bicycle to a multi day event is as important as bringing a well prepared body.
1. Pre Event Service
Have your bike fully serviced four weeks before you pack it into the box.
Arriving with a bicycle that’s not fit for the challenge ahead could ruin your week.
2. Know Your Bike
Bring a bike you know inside out.
Feeling good on a bike you are familiar with is of paramount importance.
3. Spares
Bring a spare derailleur hanger.
The Volta Broom Wagon is kitted out with all the basics – chains, cables, wheelsets and tools to help keep you on the road.
But the most common mechanical issue is a broken derailleur hanger.
Make sure you bring one!
4. Fixing a Puncture
Punctures are rare but, nonetheless, you need to be proficient at fixing one.
There’s plenty of advice on-line and you could always practice a few times at home.
And don’t forget – pick up the used inner tube before you cycle on.
5. Brakes & Cables
You’ll be surprised how many riders turn up with worn brake blocks and sticking cables to a major event.
Our routes have plenty of fast, technical descents and the condition of your brakes will make all the difference.
