Coffee Cycling and Garibaldi Caffe
☕ A Mid-Morning Ritual: Coffee, Cycling & Andrea of Garibaldi Caffè
Grand Tour Italia – Todi Feature
We roll into Todi with that unmistakable mid-morning craving — legs humming, minds half-dreaming of caffeine — and there’s Andrea behind the bar at Garibaldi Caffè, giving us that knowing nod he reserves for cyclists.
The clink of porcelain, the hiss of steaming milk, the shuffle of newspapers on the tiny tables… it’s a place where the ritual of coffee is taken seriously, but never without warmth.
Garibaldi Caffè is our go-to stop on the Grand Tour Italia: a small traditional bar in Piazza Garibaldi, where locals discuss life, visitors linger, and our riders swap stories while Andrea transforms beans into something close to magic.
He’s young, friendly, proudly qualified (just look at the wall of certificates), and absolutely devoted to the craft. So we asked him a few questions — between ristretti, of course.
A Few Words with Andrea of Garibaldi Caffè
Q: Andrea, cyclists and coffee — why do they go together so well?
“For me it’s simple: the perfect combo – an energising break, but also a moment of pure pleasure. What more do you need?”
Q: What’s the secret to a perfect cappuccino?
“Honestly? Good ingredients and well-steamed milk. If you get the milk wrong, it never comes out right.”
Q: How do you feel when a group of cyclists suddenly fills your bar mid-morning?
“I love it! I always want to know where you’ve been riding and what the plan is next.”
Q: You seem proud of your craft. Those framed certificates say a lot.
“Well, yes… we try to work with passion and professionalism. If you care about what you do, it shows — especially in the cup.”
Q: Do you cycle?
“Not yet — but I’m tempted. I see more and more people doing it, and it really interests me.”
Q: What’s your message for our Volta riders when they stop here?
“Come back soon — I’ll be here waiting for you.”
Q: Your favourite coffee of the day?
“Mid-morning. The second espresso. The first one is always rushed… the second one is the one I actually enjoy.”
Q: If Todi had a flavour, what would it be?
“Something smooth and sweet — like a really good South American coffee.”
Q: And the strangest coffee order you’ve ever had?
“A cappuccino with ice… in a glass… no foam… but really hot. I still don’t know how that’s supposed to work!”
A place where the ritual of coffee is taken seriously, but never without warmth.
☕ Why We Love This Stop
Garibaldi Caffè is more than a caffeine break — it’s where riders become part of a real Italian morning.
A place where conversations begin with coffee and end with new routes, new stories, and Andrea introducing us proudly as “i ciclisti del Volta”.
It’s small, it’s traditional, it’s genuine — and it’s one of those little details that make the Grand Tour Italia unforgettable.
