Do I need a Training Plan?

These are questions we all ask ourselves before embarking on a multi-day cycling challenge.

So, what do you need to do to prepare for five days on the bike!

We’re all different and we’ll all approach a challenge from our own perspectives.

One thing is for sure – the more prepared you are, the more you’ll enjoy your holiday and the company of your fellow riders.

There’s plenty of advice in magazines, on-line and in social media on how to prepare for a one day sportive.

But, when it comes to multi-day events, information can be thin on the ground.

When I prepare for a multi-day challenge, I find training on consecutive days to be a good strategy.

Varying the intensity and distance on each ride helps me build fitness gradually and measure my incremental gains.

I’m fortunate to have Sarah Storey as my coach and her support and wisdom is invaluable. Her training plan is my go-to resource – whether it be training for a major challenge or just maintaining fitness through the winter.

Whatever your strategy, just remember one thing – enjoy the journey!
