The iconic N2 0km marker stone sits proudly on the edge of the ancient Roman town of Chaves. It indicates the beginning of an adventure that will take its travellers down the entire length of this stunning country.

Each step of the way these markers will designate the kilometres you have travelled until, eventually, you arrive in Faro, seven days later at the N2 738km marker stone.

Your route today travels through some of the most stimulating scenery of Portugal.

You will ride through the historic centre of Vila Real and enter the famous vineyards of the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - unrivalled in it’s uniqueness.

The exhilarating descent to the Douro River passes through countless vineyards and olive groves and provides many a photo opportunity and café stop.

The stage ends in the elegant town of Lamego, nestled among the terraced slopes of the Douro Valley.
