FAQs

What is a Challenge Event?

Challenge tours are endurance events. Normally structured as a Point to Point over 5 days.

Every Challenge is lead by a professional Tour Leader and assisted by Volta support vehicles.

To find out more click on the Challenge in Calendar and browse through the Tour Brochure which gives full details of the routes and what’s included in the price.

What is included in the tour cost?

From the moment you land we look after you like a pro rider.

So, transfers to and from airport, all accomodation, all food and drink, incidental travel and your Team Volta kit are all included.

Variations to Challenge Events are clearly indicated on the booking page.

How much is the deposit and when is the balance due?

The deposit is equal to 10% of the tour cost and is non-refundable.

The balance is due 7 weeks before the tour start date.

What if I have to cancel my trip?

We will be as understanding as possible and if you give us enough notice we should be able to fill your spot.

Call us and we can talk about giving you credit on another ride or maybe a refund.

Can I bring a non riding partner?

Of course you can. Call us and we can discuss the options.

Do I bring my own bike?

We recommend you bring your own bike. Our mechanic will unpack and reassemble the bike when you arrive. We’ll even give advice on your riding position and posture to make sure your tour is as comfortable as possible.

We can supply you a carbon road bike if you would rather not bring your bike. Please call us to discuss the options available.

Do I need to bring spares?

Basic spares needed to keep you on your bike are included in the Grand Tour cost

For Challenge events you will need to bring your own spares

What clothing do I need to bring?

Pack some casual clothes for the afternoons and maybe something smart for the evenings.

Definitely some swimwear for the spa and a pair of walking shoes for the vineyards, olive groves or for just walking about town.

You will receive details of the cycle kit required prior to your departure

What is the maximum number of guests on a tour?

Quality of service and customer experience are very important. We limit our luxury Grand Tours to 12 unless otherwise stated.

How do you manage various ability levels?

As in any cycling team, different riders have different abilities.

Our staff and pro riders employ a variety of skills and techniques to ensure each and every customer arrives at the next destination with a grin of satisfaction on their faces.

How fit do I need to be?

If you ride a couple of times a week in a small group or solo you will be fine for our Grand Tours

Challenge events are far tougher. You need to be in good condition, ride regularly and confident on longer rides
